Paul Pogba has thrown his weight behind Real Madrid star, Vinicius Jr, in his ongoing battle after Valencia fans racially abused him on Sunday.
Vinicius was sent off despite being racially abused during Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, and the incident has sparked global outrage.
The Brazilian reacted to the home fans chanting mono at him, which means monkey, before getting into an altercation with the home players and being choked before his sending-off.
He has been a repeated target of racial slurs since he moved to Spain in 2018 from Flamengo, but the recent one has received global and political attention.
According to Evening Standard, the red card has been rescinded, and Valencia has been given a partial stadium closure and hit with a €45,000 fine.

Sports Brief reported that Brazilian legend Ronaldo showed support for Vinicius with a message on Twitter where he claimed racism is normal in Spain.
The 46-year-old played for Real Madrid and Barcelona and owns La Liga side, Real Valladolid.
His message suggested he is not in approval of how the league authorities handle racism and expressed sympathy and support for his Brazil compatriot.
