- City have identified one of PSG's stars to reinforce their squad
- PSG, on the other hand, have set their eyes on City's Bernardo Silva as a replacement for the outgoing Lionel Messi
Manchester City have expressed interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Marco Verratti as Pep Guardiola seeks to bolster his roster this summer.
City, who recently won their third successive Premier League title, have set their eyes on the PSG man to reinforce their squad, owing to the uncertainty surrounding the future of skipper Ilkay Gundogan and diminutive playmaker Bernardo Silva.
According to Le Parisien, the soon-to-be crowned French champions, PSG, are open to a departure from Verratti in the event of a substantial proposal from potential suitors, including Man City.
Despite inking a deal with the Parisians that sees him tied to the club till 2026, the Italian midfield linchpin is believed to be angling for a new challenge away from the French capital, GFFN reports.
With a total of 36 appearances this season, including 27 in Ligue 1, the 30-year-old midfielder is on the verge of clinching an impressive eighth French league title.
Verratti reaches PSG milestone
Previously, Sports Brief reported that Verratti became only the second player in the club’s history to play 400 games for the French side.
Only Jean-Marc Pilorget has played more games for the Parisians. Pilorget was a defender who played 435 games for PSG.
Verratti signed for PSG in 2012 from the Italian side Pescara and recently extended his contract with the French side that will see him continue until 2026.

FootballWhile Man City have expressed interest in PSG's Verratti, the French giants are also considering a move for Bernardo Silva, Sports Brief reported.
Bernardo has since appeared on the radar of Barcelona and PSG. He is flirting with the idea of leaving the Etihad Stadium, as his future with the Premier League leaders hangs in the balance.
However, former PSG winger Jerome Rothen has urged Silva not to join the Parisians, explaining it will be a 'huge mistake', due to the club owners' philosophy, which he believes does not suit the player's style.
