Vinicius Junior’s ordeal against Valencia has earned some referees the sack following the Real Madrid forward’s red card in the intense La Liga game on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Brazilian was given his marching orders for slapping Hugo Duro after being manhandled by the Valencia player, which sparked jeers from the supporters.

According to Sport Bible, the Spanish FA fired the six VAR referees as it claims that the images given to the on-field referee, which led to Vinicius' red card were not complete.

"They cannot find the reason why the sequence sent only referred to the Brazilian's blow to Hugo Duro's face and not to the rest of the play," it was stated.

Vinicius has also been shown support from footballers worldwide after he suffered racial abuse by Valencia supporters in the La Liga tie on Sunday, May 21.

Christ the Redeemer statue off

Meanwhile, Brazil's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue turned off its lights in solidarity with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr, who was racially abused on Sunday, May 21, Aljazeera reports.

The lights of the national landmark in Rio de Janeiro, the same state where Vinicius Jr was born, were turned off for an hour on Monday at 6 p.m. local time.

The Brazilian government, FIFA and the world of football have united in condemning the racist acts at the Spanish league match between Real Madrid and Valencia on Sunday.

Vinicius blasts La Liga in statement

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Vinicius Jr is not holding back in his attack on the La Liga authorities after releasing a new statement citing the various times he has battled racist attacks in the league.

The 22-year-old Brazilian received sympathy from football stakeholders around the globe when he was subjected to more racist abuse during Real Madrid’s La Liga tie against Valencia.

Vinicius revealed he had received death threats across various cities in Spain while the authorities have done nothing to address these issues.
