FootballEnzo Fernandez Laments Chelsea Teammates During Poor Performance vs Man City, Video
- Enzo Fernandez reacted angrily to his Chelsea teammates during their game against Manchester City
- Fernandez failed to get anyone running into the box as a second-rate Man City side ran out as winners
- It has been a gruelling start to English life for Fernandez, who was brought in from Benfica in January
Enzo Fernandez highlighted the latest of Chelsea's calamitous season after he appeared to fume at his teammates during their Premier League game against Manchester City on May 21.
Chelsea made the trip to Manchester practically fighting for nothing, with the club in no danger of getting relegated but also unable to qualify for European football next season.
It has been a catastrophic season for the Blues, which began with the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel in early September. The subsequent appointments of Graham Potter and Frank Lampard have done little to turn the club's fortunes around.
On Sunday, Lampard set up in a 3-5-2 formation with Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling tasked with breaching the champions' defence.
Despite Pep Guardiola going with a second-fiddle team, they still ran rings around Chelsea and were soon rewarded when Julian Alvarez scored.
Fernandez's issue with Chelsea teammates
Chelsea did well to stay in the game but offered little up-front. As they have been for large periods of this season, the players looked lost on what to do with the ball at their feet.
One particular instance saw Fernandez beautifully shimmy past a couple of chances in the Citizens half but failed to get anyone running into the box to capitalise.
The Argentine was incensed that he did not have an option of passing up front with Havertz out on the wing. He held up his arms in despair in a show of frustration, with the chance eventually going to waste.
Arteta hints who is to blame after Arsenal's Premier League title fumble
FootballThe Premier League's most expensive signing of all time will be hoping that the incoming manager and his compatriot, Mauricio Pochettino, will get the side ticking again ahead of next season.
Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell argue
It wasn't the first time this has happened. Sports Brief previously reported that Chelsea stars were involved in a heated on-pitch confrontation at the Emirates Stadium on May 2.
Frank Lampard's side were taken apart by a meticulous Arsenal, who scored three goals inside 34 minutes to inflict the Blues legend's sixth consecutive loss as caretaker manager.
Veteran defender, Thiago Silva confronted left-back Ben Chilwell with Chelsea's marquee January acquisition, Enzo Fernandez finding himself dragged into their argument as well.
