Barcelona's pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich seems to be fading away, as recent reports suggest that the move is highly unlikely.
Speculations had emerged linking the Spanish club with the 28-year-old midfielder in their search for a replacement for Sergio Busquets, but the chances of securing his signature appear slim.
Contrary to Spanish reports, German journalist Florian Plettenberg has dismissed the possibility of Kimmich joining Barcelona.
Taking to Twitter, Plettenberg clarified the situation, stating:
"He remains without an agent. He personally negotiated his contract extension until 2025. Barcelona has not made contact with him. He unequivocally intends to stay at the club and is not engaged in discussions with Barcelona. A future captain."

FootballIn addition to Kimmich, another Barcelona target, Ilkay Gundogan, is also set to stay put. Despite initial speculation of a move to Camp Nou, the Manchester City midfielder is reportedly committed to remaining with his current club.
Barcelona's hopes of bolstering their midfield with these high-profile signings appear to have diminished, forcing them to explore alternative options as the summer transfer window approaches.
For Kimmich, the mismanagement of this season by the club’s executives is still stinging, and according to SPORT1, Kimmich is still concerned about the chaotic events at the Allianz arena in recent months.
It’s more about the future of FC Bayern than his own. The sporting development of his employer has been worrying him for a long time.
Kimmich has repeatedly expressed the desire for continuity in the coaching position in recent years, which was not fulfilled with Julian Nagelsmann.

FootballJulian Nagelsmann’s end hit him particularly hard. He then spoke openly of “little love” and “little heart”. His statements were not surprising as no player in the Bayern squad got on as well with Nagelsmann as Kimmich.
Kimmich’s bitterness about the botched sacking of Nagelsmann seems to be a sticking point and might have opened his eyes to some of the club’s other issues of talent identification and squad planning.
