- Inter Milan and Manchester City will slug it out in the Champions League final on June 10
- The spotlight will be on goal machine Erling Haaland when he comes up against Inter defence
- Nerazzurri fans have devised a means of stopping the Norwegian through one of their defenders
Inter Milan fans are already planning how their team will stop Manchester City striker Erling Haaland when the two sides meet in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10.
Inter beat city rivals and stadium neighbours AC Milan 3-0 over two legs to reach their first final since winning the competition under José Mourinho in 2010.
Man City destroyed European giants Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate. The first leg ended 1-1 in Spain before City tore apart their opponents 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
According to UEFA's official website, Haaland is confirmed as the top scorer this season with 12 goals, as it would only take Inter’s leading scorer, Lautaro Martinez, eight goals in the final to overtake him.
Inter fans’ plans for Haaland
The Norwegian striker has scored 52 goals in 49 games in all competitions for Manchester City this season, and Inter Milan fans have recognised him as a threat.
At the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, the 22-year-old will come against Francesco Acerbi, who is at the centre of Inter’s three-man defence.
According to a video recirculated on Twitter by GIFN, some fans stopped the Italian defender while driving out of the club’s training ground and presented him with a gift ahead of the final.
A fishing net was handed to the big defender with clear instructions that he would use it to stop Haaland in the final on June 10.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker failed to score against Madrid in the semi-final but will surely start the final and hope to help his team win their first-ever UCL title.
Acerbi escapes red card
Guardiola congratulates Rudiger but issues stern Haaland warning ahead of second leg
FootballSports Brief previously reported that Acerbi was lucky to escape a red card after appearing to intentionally stomp Sandro Tonali’s foot in the box during a corner.
The two players got tangled all night long during the game. Acerbi quickly apologised, but the look on his face and the situation suggested it was an intentional incident rather than an accident.
