Who Zinedine Zidane picked between Messi and Ronaldo in GOAT debate
FootballCristiano Ronaldo or Eusebio? Man City’s Bernardo Silva Picks Who Is the True Portuguese GOAT
- Cristiano Ronaldo has often been touted as the greatest Portuguese footballer of all time
- The 38-year-old usually shares the spotlight with the legendary Eusebio da Silva Ferreira
- Man City's Bernardo Silva weighed in on the discussion on who the real Portugal GOAT is
Bernardo Silva has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest footballer Portugal has ever produced, while also lavishing praise on iconic Benfica forward, Eusebio da Silva Ferreira in determining who is the real Portuguese GOAT.
The diminutive playmaker was put on the spot by being asked to pick between the two Portuguese icons. However, the Manchester City ace opted against airing his choice due to his unflinching allegiance to Benfica.
Silva, who is a product of the famous Benfica academy, shares similar roots with Eusebio, who is considered by many as one of the sport's greatest. This the reason for his inability to pick between the 1965 Ballon d'Or winner and the five-time award winner.
Despite being coy about the question of who is the true Portuguese GOAT, the 28-year-old gave Ronaldo his flowers in an interview with ESPN.
"Cristiano is the best Portuguese player ever, but Eusebio is from my team. He has a statue in the surroundings of my stadium. I cannot answer that. Sorry guys," Bernardo said, as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Meanwhile, Silva will be aiming to help Man City achieve the Holy Grail - UEFA Champions League success - after producing a masterclass performance in the Citizens' semi-final triumph over Real Madrid.
He also stands a chance of winning the treble this season after Man City secured the Premier League title, while also being a game away from winning the FA Cup as well.
