Uncle of the Ayew bothers, Solar Ayew insists the younger of the siblings should have been the next Black Stars captain.

The Ayew bothers have come under intense criticisms, especially Andre, with some section of the media and fans of the national team calling for him to be stripped off the captaincy.

His uncle, who was also a former player has jumped to the defence of the Nottingham Forest forward, claiming if there is anybody to replace him as captain, it should be his younger brother.

“The next in line for Black Stars captain should have been Jordan Ayew but the way we Ghanaians do our things that’s why Jordan is not the captain of the stars,” he told Ezra FM, as quoted by Pulse.

The Crystal Palace forward is one of the most experienced players in the Black Stars, having been part of the team since 2012.

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori are the deputies to Ayew as captain of the Black Stars.

Ghana will next play Madagascar in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

Ayew inspires Palace to victory

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian duo, Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp were both on target as Crystal Palace defeated London rivals West Ham United in a thrilling encounter at the Selhurst Park.

Ayew, who has been in incredible form since the return to Roy Hodgson, gave Palace the needed response after a slow start, scoring to equalize an early strike from West Ham's Tomas Soucek.

Winger Wilfried Zaha shot the eagles into the lead six minutes later before Schlupp extended the lead in a blistering 30 minutes of football.

Hodgson praises Jordan Ayew

Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson has hailed Ghanaian forward, Jordan Ayew following his heroic brace in the thumping win over Leeds United.

The striker, often overlooked despite his incredible work rate, has been the star of the South London side since the return of Hodgson.

Ayew provided the match-winning assist in the game against Leicester City a fortnight ago before scoring twice as the Eagles secured a 5-1 win at Elland Road.
