  • The Black Stars forward scored twice as the Eagles defeated Leeds United
  • The Ghanaian forward has been key to Crystal Palace's recent resurgence

Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson has hailed Ghanaian forward, Jordan Ayew following his heroic brace in the thumping win over Leeds United.

The striker, often overlooked despite his incredible work rate, has been the star of the South London side since the return of Hodgson.

Ayew provided the match-winning assist in the game against Leicester City a fortnight ago before scoring twice as the Eagles secured a 5-1 win at Elland Road.

“Not only his two goals, but his enormous work rate helped us enormously in the game and that set a bit of a marker.”

Ayew scored only once this season under previous manager, Patrick Vieira but has found his scoring boots under Hodgson.

Crystal Palace are gradually moving away from the drop zone following the back-to-back wins in their last two matches.

Ayew remains the Ghanaian player with the most goals (32) in the English Premier League after his brace against Leeds United.

Ayew dedicates brace to Vieira

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Ayew paying tribute to Vieira, by dedicating his goals against Leeds United to the Frenchman.

The Eagles bounced back from a poor run of form under their former manager to winning back-to-back games under Hodgson.

Key to Crystal Palace's performances has been Ayew, who has scored two goals and provided an assist in the last two matches.

Guardiola praises Jordan Ayew

Pep Guardiola also praised Ayew after Manchester City's hard-fought win at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

Erling Haaland's second-half penalty ensured City's hopes of defending their Premier League title remained alive.

Sports Brief reported on the champions labouring for victory thanks to tricky wingers, Wilfried Zaha and Ayew.
