  • Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng has ended his international football retirement
  • He is expected to be named in Gabon's team for the next international break
  • Aubameyang met with Gabon's President Ali Bongo before his latest decision

Chelsea forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made himself available for a return to Gabon's national team after a meeting with President, Ali Bongo Ondimba.

The 33-year-old striker announced his retirement from Les Panthers at the end of the Africa Cup of Nations last year, after failing to make an appearance due to health problems.

However, with his nation on the verge of qualifying for the next tournament in Ivory Coast, Aubamayeng has decided to end his international retirement.

"(I) listened to the wise words he said to me as a father talking to his son," Aubameyang posted on Instagram, as quoted by the BBC.
"A few days ago, I had the immense honour to be received by the President of the Republic [of Gabon], Ali Bongo Ondimba," Aubameyang's post added.

Following this meeting, Auba put himself 'at the disposal of his country' and national coach, Patrice Neveu.

Gabon currently sit top of Group I and could seal qualification if they beat Sudan in their next game in June. Aubamayeng was captain of the team before his retirement.

Arsenal fans boo Aubameyang

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Aubameyang had a reunion with Arsenal fans to forget at the Emirates Stadium recently, as a section of opposition fans booed him.

The Gabonese striker spent four years with the Gunners before his unceremonious exit in January 2022 after an alleged fallout with team manager, Mikel Arteta.

Auba had enjoyed a sensational career with Arsenal, especially during the tenures of Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery, that saw him rise up through the ranks.

Aubameyang receiving La Liga medal?

Sports Brief also reported that Aubameyang could receive a winners medal following Barcelona's triumph in La Liga earlier this week.

La Blaugrana recently secured the domestic crown for the first time since 2019 after an incredible season under club legend, Xavi.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona - for which Auba played previously - achieved the feat after beating Espanyol 4-2 over the weekend.
