  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang featured for Barcelona in their first game of the season against Rayo Vallecano
  • The striker came on as a substitute for Jordi Alba and played for just eight minutes in the goalless draw
  • Auba went on to seal a stunning return to the Premier League with Chelsea, where he has endured a disastrous spell

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly set to pick a La Liga winners medal following Barcelona's triumph in the Spanish top-flight.

Barca recently secured the domestic crown for the first time since 2019 after an incredible season under the tutelage of club legend, Xavi.

According to The Mirror, Xavi's men achieved the feat after they stunned rivals Espanyol 4-2 over the weekend.

A Robert Lewandowski double and a goal each from youngster Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde is all that Barca needed to conquer La Liga with four games to spare.

Auba to get La Liga medal

It is now understood that Auba, who is in the books of Chelsea, is in line to get a winners' medal after Barcelona secured the La Liga title.

The Gabonese striker played eight minutes of the opening game of the campaign for Xavi's team during their goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano after he came on for Jordi Alba.

While the former Arsenal skipper went on to seal a sensational return to the Premier League with the Blues, Sportbible reports that his cameo in that match is enough to make him a La Liga winner.

According to the publication, unlike the Premier League, where players are required to make at least five appearances in a campaign in order to earn themselves a medal and the title of a league winner, the criteria is different in other divisions in Europe.

This development comes amid rumours the ex-Dortmund forward could return to Camp Nou this summer after a disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge.

Inter Milan want Aubameyang

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Italian giants, Inter Milan wanting Aubameyang as a signing in the summer, but only on a free transfer.

The Nerazzurri want Auba to replace Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, who is set to end his loan term in the summer and return to London.
