What are the latest La Liga transfer rumours? Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid
FootballEmbattled Real Madrid Star Forward Rejects Another Exit Opportunity
- It is apparent that Real Madrid deems Eden Hazard surplus to requirements
- The Belgian has a year left on his current deal but could remain on the bench
- MLS side Montreal Impact is said to be in talks with Real Madrid over Hazard
Real Madrid are seemingly happy for Belgian forward, Eden Hazard to move on this summer, but it looks as if he will be at the club next season.
At least, that is the impression that many in Madrid have.
Alongside French defender, Ferland Mendy, Real Madrid are reportedly keen to sell both players ahead of next season.
Canadian MLS side, Montreal Impact recently contacted Real Madrid and Hazard about a potential move to Quebec, but they received a negative reply from the former Chelsea player, as per Marca.
The Belgian has a year left on his deal and has recently said he wants to see out his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
After retiring from national duty, Hazard is said to be enjoying his life away from the pitch in the Spanish capital but has little intention of departing the club.
There has even been speculation the former Red Devil may retire at the end of his deal, as reported by Goal.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are apparently desperate to see him move on, be it on loan or permanently. Hazard is their highest earner - reportedly in the region of €14 million - yet is their last-choice forward these days.
Given his wages, it looks tricky for them to carry out that wish. He was one of the best in the game for most of the previous decade, but currently is a reminder of a substantial and failed operation for Los Blancos.
Mendy on Madrid’s exit list
Reports suggest that club president, Florentino Perez will look to sell Mendy in the summer if reasonable offers are made for his services.
Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham edges closer to signing for Spanish side
FootballThis news comes ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final second-leg tie with Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Like Hazard, Mendy has struggled for game time at Real Madrid due to injuries. He has endured an injury-ridden season, managing 26 appearances across competitions and providing one assist.
Hazard, meanwhile, has endured a miserable spell at the Santiago Bernabeu since becoming the club’s record signing back in 2019. The Belgian has managed just 76 appearances since moving from Chelsea, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists.
Madrid fans rip into Hazard
Sports Brief earlier reported that Hazard had a disastrous outing in his first start for Real Madrid in La Liga since the turn of the year.
The Belgian flop was given a rare start as Carlo Ancelotti ringed the changes to his side with one eye on their UCL semi-final tie.
Real Madrid's coach has often been criticised for failing to hand Hazard game time yet the 32-year-old did himself no favoursgood with an underwhelming performance as Marco Asensio's pile driver handed Los Blancos a 1-0 win against Getafe.
