FootballZanetti and Inter Milan Prefer Manchester City to Real Madrid in Champions League Final
- Inter Milan booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final with a 3-0 aggregate win over AC Milan
- The game to decide their opponents will be held tonight between Real Madrid and Manchester City
- Inter legend and Vice President Javier Zanetti is already making a wish about their final opponents
The final spot in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League final will be decided tonight between Real Madrid and Manchester City, but Javier Zanetti is already making a wish.
Inter Milan reached their first final since winning the competition in 2010 when Jose Mourinho was in charge when they beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final.
A 2-0 win in the first leg was topped with a 1-0 win last night, thanks to a well-taken goal from captain, Lautaro Martinez.
According to BT Sports, they were the first team since Liverpool and Tottenham in 2019 to reach the final despite being runner-up in their group.
Zanetti wants to avoid Madrid
Club legend and Vice President Javier Zanetti has praised the team’s effort to reach the final despite having a challenging season domestically.
The 2010 winner was quick to make a wish for the opponent he would love to face in the final, with Madrid and City set to battle tonight.
“I’d like to avoid Real Madrid because this competition seems made for them,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Football Italia.
“However, the most important thing is to have arrived here. It was a difficult path; it’s not easy to play a derby in the semifinals. I did, and I was defeated in 2003.”
Madrid and City played a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, and it will be a winner takes all tonight. Pep Guardiola downplayed revenge after Carlo Ancelotti’ dumped them out of the competition at the same stage last year.

FootballMadrid stranded at the airport
Zanetti’s wish may come to pass unexpectedly after Madrid was stranded at the airport for about 30 minutes at Manchester airport, as Sports Brief reported.
The team bus meant to convey the squad to the hotel arrived late, leaving the players hanging around at the terminal, and Ancelotti was not too impressed by the situation.
