  • Inter Milan beat rivals AC Milan 3-0 on aggregate to proceed to the UEFA Champions League final
  • Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal of the second leg after good hold-up play from Romelu Lukaku
  • There appeared to be an intentional sttamp from Inter defender Francesco Acerbi on Sandro Tonali

Inter Milan may have gotten away with what could have been a decisive moment in their game against their fiercest rivals, after a box-18 incident involving Francesco Acerbi and Sandro Tonali.

Milan's blue-and-black side won the first leg away 2-0, and produced a dominant performance yet again in the second leg to win 1-0 and take the aggregate scoreline to 3-0.

Captain, Lautaro Martinez got the second leg's only goal after brilliant work from substitute Romelu Lukaku, who held off defenders to set the Argentine up.

The Nerazzurri await the winner of tonight’s tie between Real Madrid and Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. They will face the winner in Istanbul on 10 June.

Acerbi's foot stamp on Tonali

Though Milan struggled in the game, football is a game of tiny details, and one could have swung the advantage to the Rossoneri’s side.

According to Football Italia, in the 52nd minute of the game, Inter won a corner. While scrambling in the box, defender, Acerbi appeared to intentionally step on the foot of Tonali.

The Italian defender quickly apologised to his compatriot, but the look on his face suggested the stamp was more intentional than a mistake.

Mike Maignan and Fikayo Tomori approached the referee for more action.

The game was a proper Derby della Madonnina, with fouls flying in every corner. According to BT Sports, the game had more fouls than tackles.

Fans mock United about Inter

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported that fans mocked Manchester United after three of their former players helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final.

Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Matteo Darmian were teammates at the club before their axing by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a move termed 'clearing deadwood'.

The players United so famously cleared out have gone on to be successful - particularly in the Serie A - while the Red Devils have limited success of their own.
