According to Al Jazeera, Simone Inzaghi's charges stunned AC Milan 3-0 on goal aggregate to advance to the next round of the prestigious competition.

Inter beat the Rossoneri 2-0 in the first leg of the tie last week before securing a momentous 1-0 win in the second leg on Tuesday night, May 16, to qualify.

Lautaro Martinez was Inter's match hero, with his solitary goal earning them a date with either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final.

United mocked as Inter qualifies

The role played by three former Man United stars in Inter's qualification for the Champions League final became a major talking point among fans, with rival fans using the opportunity to troll the Red Devils.

ESPN shared a photo of the trio of Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Matteo Darmian shortly after Inter's qualification, sparking reactions from fans.

@madridfooty joked:

"Just shows United is the problem."

@Oyimzy tweeted:

"Look how they’ve thrived so well after leaving Manchester United, that club at the moment only ruins players. Good thing they left."

@samiichels added:

"Shock. ManUtd was holding these star players back."

@TraffordHeart conceded:

"We’ve been the problem, all thanks to the glazers."

@C_SYM1 concluded:

"It’s all upwards after united, blessings upon blessings."

The trio of Lukaku, Mkhitaryan, and Darmian were teammates at Old Trafford before they quit at different times to move to the Serie A.

Mkhitaryan initially joined Arsenal before he joined AS Roma, with Darmian previously joining Parma before his switch to Inter Milan.

Lukaku makes Inter decision

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Lukaku apparently committing his future to Inter Milan despite the growing possibility of returning to Chelsea at the end of the season.

The Belgian joined the Blues for the second time in 2021 for a club-record fee of £97.5 million, but he fell out with former boss, Thomas Tuchel after an unsanctioned interview which angered the manager.
