In what can be referred to as a remarkable and prosperous season in the Italian Serie A, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has recorded his name in the history books after helping Napoli to win the Scudetto after 33 years.

The Super Eagles' strongman is now the leading African striker with 47 goals in the Serie A, surpassing the record of former AC Milan striker George Weah.

Weah, who is now the President of Liberia was impressed with Osimhen breaking his record and wished the Nigerian more success in his career.

It is on record that Osimhen is not the first Nigerian striker to play in the Serie A, as there are other brilliant men who have also scored goals in Italy.

Sports Brief takes a look at Osimhen and nine other Nigerian strikers who are top scorers in Serie A.

1. Victor Osimhen

At 24, Osimhen has already amassed an impressive 47 goals in 79 appearances for Napoli and he is leading the pack.

2. Simy Nwankwo

In four seasons in Serie A, Simy Nwankwo featured in 101 games and netted 31 goals.

3. Obafemi Martins

During his active playing days, Martins was one of the best strikers in the world and the Nigerian scored 28 goals in 88 appearances for Inter Milan.

4. Stephen Makinwa

Over eight years in Serie A, Makinwa recorded 16 goals in 120 matches playing for five clubs.

5. Victor Obinna

Former Kwara United forward Victor Obinna excelled at Chievo Verona where he contributed 14 goals in 69 appearances over four seasons.

6. David Okereke

Okereke has demonstrated great potential scoring 14 goals in 62 matches over two terms for Cremonese.

7. Ademola Lookman

In only his debut season in the Italian Serie A, Ademola Lookman has made an impact registering 13 goals so far for his club according to reports on Soccernet and Daily Post.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Italian forward, Mario Balotelli met up with Victor Osimhen, following the Nigerian striker's league triumph with Napoli.

The Super Eagles star led Gli Azzurri to their first league title in 33 years, after scoring 23 goals in Serie A this season.

Osimhen had already spoken to the former Inter Milan striker via Instagram the day the title was won.
