  • They shared a great rivalry on the pitch during their days for Arsenal and Manchester United
  • The two reunited on Sky Sports punditry for the game between Arsenal and Brighton

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira and Manchester United legend Roy Keane threw back to their years of rivalry at the Emirates Stadium while on punditry duty.

The two shared one of the most iconic rivalries the Premier League ever witnessed of two midfielders with similar qualities as tough tacklers and gritty players.

They have had different paths after their playing career. Keane tried coaching but did not stay long before he took up punditry at Sky Sports.

Vieira, Keane reunite at Emirates

The two icons were billed as pundits for the game between the Frenchman’s former side and Brighton and Hove Albion, which the latter won 3-0.

As seen in a video on Twitter by Sky Sports, the legends took to the pitch to preview the game and gave fans delightful moments by appearing to trade blows in a friendly manner.

The former France international aimed a dig at his rival with reference to Arsenal’s 2004 Invincibles, who were crowned at Old Trafford.

“Of course, it can get really sweet [too], especially when you go to Old Trafford and win it over there. That made it even more special,” he said via Mirror UK.

Keane nodded as if in agreement and opened up on the aggressiveness and nastiness of their rivalry then, claiming it is what the big clubs need as they are trying to win championships.

Why Crystal Palace sacked Vieira

Sports Brief previously analysed why Palace sacked Vieira two months ago and replaced him with veteran Roy Hodgson, who has helped them avoid relegation.

The French boss was winless in 12 games and, at the time of his sacking, had the team in a relegation battle with games against eight other survivor strugglers still to come.
