  • Southampton suffered Premier League demotion after defeat to Fulham on Saturday
  • The Saints are dropping to the second-tier after 11 years in the topflight

Black Stars players, Mohammed Salisu and Kamaldeen Sulemana have disappointingly suffered relegation with English Premier League side Southampton FC.

The Saints were condemned to the second tier of English football after a 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Second half goals from Michael Vinicius and Aleksandr Mitrovic were enough for Fulham to sink the Saints at the St Mary's.

The 20-year-old joined Southampton in the winter transfer window from Stade Rennais and made 16 Premier League appearances, providing an assist.

Meanwhile, compatriot Salisu has not featured for the Saints since March after picking a knock during the international break.

His absence has been a huge blow for Southampton.

However, his future at St Mary's seems to be edging to an end with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in his services. Newcastle United have also been linked with the towering centre-back.

Southampton spent eleven years in the topflight before getting relegated.

Kamaldeen shines against Wolves

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian forward, Kamaldeen Sulemana gave fans of Southampton a taste of his explosive pace during the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Saints on transfer deadline day, was handed his full debut after starting against Wolves at the Saint Mary's.

Sulemana was a threat for Wolves and came close to scoring in the first half.

Salisu rejoins Southampton after World Cup

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has made a quick return to club duties following Ghana's World Cup exit.

The 22-year-old resumed training with Southampton as the Saints begin mid-season preparations ahead of the return of the English Premier League.

Salisu was one of Ghana's stars at the World Cup in Qatar despite the team's group stage elimination. The Southampton centre-back scored in Ghana's 3-2 victory against South Korea.
