  • Chelsea have reached an agreement with Mauricio Pochettino to become the club’s next boss
  • Multiple reports indicate the deal is set to be completed within the next few days
  • Pochettino’s last stint as manager was with Paris Saint Germain, who sacked him in July 2022

Mauricio Pochettino is all but a Chelsea manager as the club has reached a full agreement with the Argentine to take over from next season.

It is now a matter of “when” not “if” as far as an official announcement is concerned, as multiple reports claim talks have been in advanced stages from as far back as April.

While it is not certain the length of Pochettino’s deal, everything is set to come to light in the coming days.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, “Pochettino will bring his people for the coaching staff and will discuss transfer strategy with the club soon.”

Pochettino has been out of work since July 2022 after controversially parting ways with Paris Saint Germain.

He is however no stranger to the Premier League, as his longest managerial stint has been with Tottenham Hotspur, who he coached from 2014 to 2019.

Pochettino’s biggest Chelsea challenge

Despite taking over at a massive club, there are a number of things the highly-rated Argentine will need to iron out at Chelsea.

The club spent heavily in both transfer windows of the 2022/23 campaign, but there has been no success on the pitch.

With only three games of the season to go, Chelsea will certainly finish outside European places, meaning it may be hard to retain some of the club’s stars.

Departures in the summer are also a given, but Pochettino will have to do some convincing to a number of key players to keep them at Stamford Bridge.

According to Footystats, Pochettino has a 48.57 win percentage as manager, having managed a total of 595 games.
