Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was spotted at Old Trafford for the first time since his sacking.

Since his sacking in November 2021, Solskjaer decided to keep a low profile, but he showed his face during United’s clash against Wolves on Satuday, May 13.

Solskjaer was also in the presence of another United boss, who has fonder memories at Old Trafford, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fergie is a regular at Old Trafford, and rarely misses games involving United, especially those that have high stakes.

For this one, United needed to win to keep their top four ambitions in their own hands.

What Solskjaer said pre-match

Solskjaer, who lasted 3 years at the United dugout, spoke candidly about his time at United, revealing the heartbreak that came with getting sacked.

He was dismissed after United lost 4-1 to Watford, who were battling relegation at the time.

“There are only two times when I have cried as a grown man.” He said as quoted on The Sun.
“The first was after my testimonial because that was emotional and a year and a half ago when I had to leave, so that’s the two times when I’ve cried. Manchester United, it does something to you.”

How the game went

United proved too strong for their opponents on the day despite the absence of their top scorer Marcus Rashford.

Instead, Erik Ten Hag went with Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho , who supported Number 9 Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman found the opener after unselfishly being set up by Bruno Fernandes in the 32nd minute.

United were guilty of missing a number of chances, with Brazilian Antony particularly blunt in the absence of Rashford.

Substitute Alejandro Garnacho however put the game to bed late on as he raced through to slot past Dan Bentley in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Notably, Wolves were extremely blunt and ended the game without a single shot on target.

How Man United missed on Haaland

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Solskjaer’s take on how Manchester United missed out on Erling Haaland.

Haaland has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom from his days at RB Salzburg through to Man City who he joined in the summer of 2022.

According to Solskjaer, United were presented with the opportunity of signing Haaland for just £4million.
