  • Karim Adeyemi is reportedly faster than Usain Bolt over 30 metres
  • The Borussia Dortmund star believes he is the quickest in football
  • However, Adeyemi is not planning a trip to the next Olympic Games

Karim Adeyemi’s blistering pace left many in awe, after the 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward outpaced Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez in the UEFA Champions League first-leg tie at the Signal Iduna Park.

The fleet-footed forward, who moved to the Yellow and Blacks from RB Salzburg in the summer of 2022, has been clocked at a time of 3.60 seconds over 30 metres.

By comparison, Jamaican sprint king, Usain Bolt covered the same distance in 3.78 seconds when breaking the 100-metre world record in 2009.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, the Dortmund winger discussed his sensational form and being quicker than an Olympian:

"Yes, I think so. I am very confident with that. Is there nobody close? Close, maybe. But not faster," he stated boldly.

Adeyemi believes nobody in football circles is close to him when it comes to speed on the field. Quizzed on whether he could represent his country at the Olympics, the German international added:

"No, I don't think so. I cannot. I am focusing on football."

Adeyemi, Bellingham both bright prospects

For now, Adeyemi is looking to make the most of his time on the pitch at Dortmund, with nine goals and five assists recorded this season.

He is not the only young star to be shining either, with the talented winger speaking of the potential boasted by Real Madrid-linked Jude Bellingham, as reported by Goal.

"What I love to say is that the ball loves him and he loves the ball back. So, everything he does is quite magic."

Bellingham and Adeyemi are hoping to guide Dortmund to Bundesliga glory this season, with just three games left for them to try and edge above arch-rivals, Bayern Munich - who currently hold a narrow one-point lead at the summit.

Karim Adeyemi’s speed secret revealed

Earlier Sports Brief reported that German forward, Adeyemi revealed his speed secret, attributing his blistering pace to his love for the Nigerian delicacy, fufu.

The fastest player in the Bundesliga notably used his pace to bypass the Chelsea defence and score his side's UCL match-winner, in the two sides' last 16 clash.

Adeyemi would hope his supersonic speed would come in handy for Dortmund again, as the German side chases down another Bundesliga championship title.
