Mamelodi Sundowns will be the latest South African side to play in a CAF club competition semi-final when they take on Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of their tie on Saturday, the same opponents who beat them at this stage four years ago.
It will be a tough assignment, but history is generally on the side of The Brazilians, with South African clubs having traditionally fared well in the semi-finals of continental competitions.
Teams from the PSL have won nine of the 13 semi-final ties they have contested down the years, including in each of the last two seasons. Sports Brief studied how each side has fared in the 'last four' since Jomo Cosmos took South Africa's bow in African club competitions back in 1993.

Sports Brief reported on how the Amakhosi somehow contrived to fall 2-1 to relegation-threatened Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership encounter in Polokwane.
This result put to bed any hopes of them finishing as runners-up behind Mamelodi Sundowns, leaving Orlando Pirates (second) and SuperSport United (third) to fight it out for that position.
