FootballArsene Wenger Agrees With Harry Kane’s Assessment of Tottenham’s Situation
- Harry Kane gave an insight into the problems at Tottenham Hotspur in recent seasons
- Kane’s contract expires in the summer of 2024 but his comments suggest he will stay
- Legendary Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger agrees with the English striker’s assessment
Former Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has backed Harry Kane’s assessment of the situation at Tottenham Hotspur in the past seasons, which has led to the team’s failures.
Spurs’ hope of silverware was dented by their UEFA Champions League elimination at the hands of semi-finalists, AC Milan, who dumped them out of the competition in the round of 16.
It extended their trophy drought to 15 years, with their last cup victory coming in the 2008 League Cup over London big boys, Chelsea.
Kane, in an interview with Sky Sports earlier this week, blamed the club’s problems on falling standards, which have dipped even lower since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

Wenger agrees with Kane
While on beIN Sports punditry duty for the Champions League Milan derby, the legendary tactician concurred with Kane, who he claims has more insight about the club as an insider.
“Translated, [Kane's comments] means that not everybody gives the maximum to perform during training to be good enough in the game. You have to create a culture inside the club that allows the players to perform,” Wenger said, as quoted by Mirror UK.
“You need clear rules for everybody to see what you tolerate and what you won’t tolerate. When you talk about values, most of the time, it is what is not tolerated.”
Wenger praised the England striker for having the ability to recognise that there is a problem, but admitted his old-time rivals have failed again.

Football“Players like Harry Kane have high standards. He is now frustrated because, for years, the team looked on the way up. Since two or three years, they look to have failed again,” he added.
Kane hints at Tottenham’s stay
Sports Brief also reported that Kane has dropped a strong hint that he could stay at Tottenham next season and fulfil the last year of his contract, which expires in 2024.
The England striker is yet to win a trophy in his career, which is a consideration amid continued transfer interest from clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United.
However, his recent comments on what it would take to get Tottenham back to their best may well suggest that he is set to stay with Spurs for another season at least.
