Paris Saint-Germain fans may want Lionel Messi gone from the club, but not everyone feels that way.
Former PSG player, Claude Makelele, believes that the club should try to retain the Argentinian superstar's services for next season as well.
Messi is contracted to PSG until the end of the current season and is yet to extend his stay in Paris.
It's been commonly reported that the 35-year-old will leave the club at the end of the season, even though he is yet to find a new club.

As noted by SportsKeeda, Makelele said that Messi's presence lifted the stature of the league and so the club needed to do more to retain his services.
"The truth is that PSG's reaction disappointed me a bit. Both the club and Ligue 1 need top-level players to continue growing, and I hope they know how to react in time to retain Messi," he said.
Makelele added that it hurt when players with such high levels of talent were criticised. Messi has made 71 appearances for the French club since joining in 2021, scoring 31 goals and netting 34 assists.
Despite having some incredible moments for the side, many fans of the team want him gone. Fans were particularly upset with the player after he went to Saudi Arabia without the club's permission.
Messi was suspended at first by the club but has since returned to training. The Guardian noted that the World Cup winner was back in training after apologising for his actions.

FootballPSG show mercy to Messi
Lionel Messi has made a swift return to training after Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have reversed their decision to suspend him.
Messi was slapped with a 2-week game suspension without pay by the club last week after the Argentine playmaker embarked on an unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia, Sports Brief reported.
The punishment ensured the 35-year-old missed out on PSG's 3-1 win at Troyes.
