Declan Rice showed why he is the beloved of many top English clubs, on and off the pitch, in West Ham's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The English midfielder expertly played the role of a box-to-box midfielder, displaying his versatility and all-around game as the Hammers edged out the Red Devils with a vital win.

Algerian winger Said Benrahma scored the game's only goal after a grave blunder from Spanish goalkeeper David De, who parried a shot home.

According to Goal, De Gea's error defined the day, but the rest of the team appeared to be on their last legs, and the attack was toothless in a generally disgraceful display.

Rice shows classy gesture

After captaining his side to a disciplined display over the top four hopefuls, Declan Rice showed an off-field good gesture with a young West Ham fan after the game.

According to a video posted on Twitter by the boy's father, the Chelsea academy product was seen embracing the young boy, who could not hide his emotions and burst into tears.

He then pulled off his match-worn shirt and handed it to the boy. However, it was not signed, and when called out on Twitter, he responded and claimed he would love to sign it.

The 24-year-old is one of the most sought-after English players and is sure to leave West Ham this summer with Chelsea and Arsenal highly interested. The Irons have slapped a price tag of £100m on him, according to ESPN UK.

Ten Hag makes young fans day

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag made a young fan's day after stopping for some quick exchange and photos while driving out of Carrington.

The boy presented the Dutch manager with a cardboard crown and also asked him to guess his favourite player - which was revealed to be Alejandro Garnacho.
