Harambee Stars to jet back after AFCON campaign

Kenya national team, Harambee Stars, will leave Cairo on Wednesday night, July 3, and are expected in Nairobi in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Stars were on Tuesday evening knocked out of the African Cup of nations after Benin held Cameroon to a barren draw.

"The Kenya National team, Harambee Stars, is set to jet out to Nairobi from Cairo on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 10.45 pm EAT. The team is expected in Nairobi on Thursday at 3.30 am," FKF said in a statement.

The Sebastien Migne-tutored side registered a single win and two losses in their Group C matches.

They began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Algeria before staging a comeback to beat Tanzania 3-2.

The team’s campaign ended on a bad foot as they suffered a 3-0 defeat in the hands of Senegal.

Stars will now shift focus to their African Championship (CHAN) qualifier match against Tanzania scheduled for later this month.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed, meanwhile, treated the team to a luncheon in Egypt on Tuesday, flanked by Kenyan Ambassador to Egypt H.E Joff Otieno.

The Sports CS expressed congratulated the team for putting up a strong fight despite not sealing an automatic round of 16 slot.
