Lampard had made wholesome changes to the side that lost to Arsenal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling getting relegated to the bench.
It was Chukwunonso Madueke who was picked to start on the flank, and he proved to be a consistent menace for Bournemouth with his pace and ability to take on players in a 1v1 situation.
The two sides cancelled each other out for most of the second half, but Chelsea pushed for a winner, and it came in the 82nd minute courtesy of Benoît Ntambue Badiashile.
Soon after the defender’s goal, the Vitality stadium was filled with chants from the travelling support, who were thrilled their team was leading a game; something that has become a rarety in recent weeks.

Were Chelsea in danger of relegation?
In the Premier League, the traditional cut-off mark for safety has always been 40 points since no side that has accrued such points has ever been relegated.
Chelsea have been on 39 points since March 11, and their losing streak raised serious concerns that perhaps an extraordinary scenario could draw them closer to the drop zone.
Lampard does not want interim job again
Sports Brief also reported on Frank Lampard’s take on his time at Chelsea as caretaker manager.
The 44-year old admitted he re-took the Chelsea job from the heart, but would not want to take charge of a club on interim basis in future again.
“When I came here I certainly took it on with a lot of heart and understanding that it was short term.” He said.
But I don’t want to be an interim manager in my next job.
