Frank Lampard has claimed he does not want to take over a coaching role on interim basis in the future, after a nightmare second spell at the Chelsea dugout.

The 44-year-old was appointed Chelsea boss last month after the dismissal of Graham Potter, but he has been unable to turn the club’s fortunes around to rescue perhaps what has been a torrid season.

Chelsea remain in 13th place on the log, with 39 points, and 10 of those points were won by Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked more than six months ago.

Ahead of the Blues’ trip to Bournemouth, Lampard spoke candidly about his time as interim boss, saying as per The Athletic:

“When I came here I certainly took it on with a lot of heart and understanding that it was short term.”
But I don’t want to be an interim manager in my next job.
“I’d actually like to be able to work in something that feels like it has an opportunity to go the way I want it to go and I’m very aware of what that way is.”

Lampard also defended the club’s new signings, who have failed to live up to fans’ expectations.

According to the Chelsea legend, the signings need a bit more time to find ‘connections’.

It almost looked like the game would end in a 1-1 draw, but late goals from Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix inside the last 10 minutes secured all three points for Frank Lampard’s men.

Soon after the Badiashile’s goal, the Vitality stadium was filled with chants from the travelling support, who were thrilled their team was leading a game; something that has become a rarety in recent weeks.
