Messi was recently slapped with a two-week suspension by PSG for going on an impromptu promotional trip to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission.

The Barcelona legend, who serves as a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia, had initially asked for permission, according to reports. Still, the trip was postponed twice after PSG suffered separate defeats.

In the wake of the club’s latest defeat at the hands of Lorient, Messi was pictured with his family in Riyadh less than 48 hours later, as reported on The Guardian.

Soon after his apology, Messi was a trending topic for varying reasons, but one fan decided to take a unique angle with his opinion on the apology.

Twitter user @MahalkaMessi shared an image of Messi and his long-time rival side by side as he tried to compare Messi’s direct response to getting punished to Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to getting punished by Manchester United.

As reported on ESPN, Cristiano Ronaldo was axed from the Manchester United squad by Erik Ten Hag over disciplinary issues after refusing to come on as a substitute in October 2022.
