  • Napoli were confirmed Italian Serie A champions last night after their 1-1 draw away at Udinese
  • Victor Osimhen scored the equalising goal after Udinese had taken the lead in the first half
  • Congratulations poured in for the Neapolitans including one from Juventus

Juventus could not hide their cheekiness when congratulating Napoli on winning the 2022/23 Italian Serie A last night after their 1-1 draw with Udinese.

Napoli's title party, which could have happened at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona last week, was postponed after the 1-1 draw against Salernitana.

The Partenopei repeated the same scoreline away at Udinese. Victor Osimhen powered home a shot through the crowd after a box scramble from a corner kick.

It ended a 33-year wait for a Scudetto for the blue and white. According to BBC Sports, this is their third title and the first since the 1989/90 season that featured the legendary Diego Maradona, BBC Sports.

Juventus congratulates Napoli

Juventus are the most successful Italian club, with 36 top-flight titles; the Milan clubs have won 19 trophies each. The three clubs were the first to send a congratulatory tweet to the Partenopei.

The Bianconeri did not limit their tweet to just congratulations. They got salty with it, which did not sit well with some Neapolitans who reacted with their own cheekiness, as reported by Football Italia.

“Considering all the compliments we received from you in recent years, we could not shy away from doing the same. Congratulations to Napoli for the achievement of your third Scudetto!” Juventus wrote on Twitter.

The Old Lady won nine straight titles between 2011 and 2020 before their dominance was broken by Inter Milan, under Antonio Conte, who started Juventus' dominance.

Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Napoli have won the Scudetto in the last four seasons, a feat that has not happened in any other top 5 European leagues.

Osimhen breaks Eto'o record

Victor Osimhen's goal that delivered the league title to Napoli was also a record-matching and record-breaking goal for the Nigerian striker.

He broke a Samuel Eto'o Serie A record for most goals by an African in a single season, as reported by Sports Brief. He also matched George Weah's record of most goals by an African in Italy.
