Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed excitement after scoring his first goal in the English topflight league as AFC Bournemouth thrashed Leeds United.

The 23-year-old came on with seven minutes remaining to register his name on the score sheet at the Vitality Stadium as the Cherries secured a 4-1 home win.

The lanky forward, who joined Bournemouth had to wait till his tenth game to score his first goal for the club.

"It feels surreal right now. It hasn't sunk in yet but you know I am happy the ball went it. Just hit it as hard as I can so I am happy," an excited Semenyo told AFC Bournemouth media.

Fellow second half substitute Jaidon Anthony provided the assist for Semenyo's first goal.

The Black Stars forward revealed he and Anthony have been planning the celebrations since he joined the club.

"We've been planning for weeks for celebrations and being on the pitch together, that was even better," added Semenyo.

The victory means Bournemouth are safe and will be in the English Premier League next season.

Semenyo scores first EPL goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian forward, Antoine Semenyo has finally scored his first-ever goal in the English Premier League after coming off the bench to complete AFC Bournemouth's thrashing of Leeds United.

Having joined the Cherries in the winter transfer window, it took the 23-year-old ten games to break his duck.

Semenyo replaced Keiffer Moore in the 83rd minute before sealing the victory for Bournemouth in the 91st minute, as the host collected all three points at the Vitality Stadium.

Antoine Semenyo has disclosed his ambitions of reaching the heights Asamoah Gyan chalked with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The English-born Ghanaian forward netted his first competitive goal for the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola last month.

Semenyo is one of the players charged with the role of occupying the huge vacuum left by the former Black Stars captain.
