Pique’s Ex Partner Shakira Facing 8 Years in Jail After Splitting With Defender

Gerard Pique’s ex-partner Shakira is having a difficult time just weeks after splitting with the former Barcelona defender.

The Colombian music icon is facing a jail term after she was recently accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities by hiding her income using a series of shell companies based out of tax havens.

According to Sportskeeda, the Spanish tax authorities claim Shakira had pretended not to reside in Spain and now owes the government up to €14.5 million.

If found guilty, the famous musician could face up to eight years and two months in jail as prosecutors also claim that there are over 100 witnesses who could testify over the course of the trial.

Pique and Shakira, who have two kids together, recently went their separate ways after spending 11 years together after the former Barcelona defender was accused of cheating on the Colombian star.

Meanwhile, Gerard Pique and new partner Clara Chia are enjoying their Abu Dhabi getaway in celebration of the former Barcelona defender’s girlfriend’s 24th birthday, Hola reports.

The pair encountered fans excited to see them sharing a sweet moment together in the Middle East.

Pique is scheduled to visit his children in Florida at the end of the month and spend 10 days with them. This appears to be an opportunity for his and Shakira's lawyers to finalise some of their arrangements, such as co-parenting between Barcelona and Miami.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported pop star Shakira has once again roasted her ex-partner Gerard Pique in a new song.

Shakira and Pique, who recently announced his retirement from football, broke up in June 2022 after the former Barcelona defender was reportedly caught cheating.

Since their separation, Shakira’s music has included references to Pique, this time featuring Karol G, in which more digs have been taken at the former Barcelona defender.
