Proud Mother of 15 Year Old Referee Watches Daughter Officiate First Pro Game

Madam Hannah Ofori, the mother of 15-year-old Ghanaian referee, Augustina Ofori, watched her daughter officiate her first professional game.

Augustina, a product of the Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy by the Ghana Football Association, was in charge of a Division One women's league game over the weekend.

The teen sensation handled the match between Mfanteman Royal Ladies FC and Assin Soccer Angels Ladies FC in Mankessim, a town in the Central Region of Ghana.

Augustina's mother stole the moment after she showed up just before the start of the match.

In photos shared on social media, Madam Ofori made sure she preserved the memories from her daughter's first official game by taking pictures with her.

Augustina was outstanding in her role as Royal Ladies thumped Soccer Angels Ladies 11-2 at the Mankessim Astro Turf.

The Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy was initiated by the GFA following the election of Kurt Okraku as president in 2019. The policy has produced several young referees with many expected to reach great heights in the profession.

GFA Foundation donates to Tetteh

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on the GFA - through its foundation - making a donation of GHC50,000 to former U20 coach, Sellas Tetteh.

The FIFA U20 World Cup winning coach received a delegation led by the president of the GFA, Okraku at his home in Accra recently.

Tetteh has been unwell for some time now, leaving many wondering if the federation was aware of his situation and would assist him.

Hughton unveiled as Ghana coach

Sports Brief also reported on Chris Hughton being unveiled as the new coach of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United manager will be in charge of the Black Stars until December 2024.

At a short ceremony in Kumasi, Hughton shared his excitement and expressed hope at leading Ghana back to their glory days.
