Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Samed Salis has been nominated for the 2023 Marc-Vivien Foe award.

The Black Stars midfielder is gunning for the award for the first time owing to an impressive campaign with UEFA Champions League chasers RC Lens.

The Marc-Vivien Foe trophy is awarded to the best performing African player in the French topflight league.

Salis faces competition from Guinea Bissau forward Mama Samba Balde, Malian midfielder Mohamed Camara, Senegalese forward Habib Diallo, and French-Ivorian midfielder Seko Fofana.

The other names on the list are Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba, Nigerian striker Terem Moffi, Zimbabwean midfielder Marshall Nyasha Munetsi, Malian defender Hamari Traore, and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi.

Salis (23) has been outstanding for the Reds and Yellows in Ligue 1 since joining from rivals Clermont Foot in the summer transfer window. He has made 29 Ligue 1 appearances for the club sitting second on the table.

The Black Stars midfielder was red carded after 19 minutes following a reckless tackle on the Moroccan as PSG went on to win 3-1 at the Parc de Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has responded to Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Samed Salis' apology after the Ligue 1 game against RC Lens.

The Black Stars midfielder was sent off for a reckless tackle on the Moroccan in the 19th minute of the top of the table clash at the Parc des Princes.

Salis' red card meant RC Lens would play the rest of the game with ten men and eventually lost the match 3-1, with goals from Kylian Mbappe, Vitinha and Lionel Messi for the hosts.
