Villareal icon Juan Roman Riquelme wants to have his dream fulfilled by having Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi feature in his farewell game in Argentina.
Riquelme shared the same dressing room with Messi and was present when the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner made his debut with the Argentina national team in August 2005.
According to PSG Talk, Riquelme expressed his interest in holding the farewell match eight years after his retirement and would love to have Messi for the game.

Riquelme’s event which has suffered several postponements due Boca Juniors’ elections and the 2020 Covid pandemic has now been scheduled for the 24th or 25th of June at La Bombonera.
Riquelme is currently the vice president of Argentina’s super club Boca Juniors and had a successful career with Barcelona and Villareal while playing in Europe.
