Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi has exchanged his football kit and boots for Louis Vuitton's best as the face of the famous fashion brand's new Horizon's Never End campaign.

The Argentina captain has renewed his relationship with LV and gone solo for the launch of this new advertising campaign after causing a stir for the fashion brand in an advertisement with longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo prior to the World Cup.

The fashion house described the philosophy behind the collection by going into detail about Horizon's Never End campaign on their website.

"Celebrating the spirit of travel, the new Louis Vuitton campaign is a homage to the Iconic Horizon collection," a statetement on their website read.

"In a series of photos taken by photographer and filmmaker Glen Luchford, football legend Lionel Messi is captured en route to his next destination, accompanied by his Horizon suitcase. Emblematic of Maison's heritage, the Louis Vuitton Horizon line offers unprecedented perspectives and infinite freedom."

The image tweeted out by Louis Vuitton shows Messi perfectly suited in a smart black suit and shoes, sitting in what looks like a departure lounge and surrounded by luggage bearing the famous logo.

It's a picture that presents an ironic undertone, given that the PSG star's club future is unclear and he could be about to pack his bags for new pastures.

Messi's contract with the French champions expires at the end of the season and the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is not expected to sign a new deal with the club.

Barcelona fans chant for Messi

Meanwhile, supporters of the Catalan giants sang Messi's name during Barcelona's second-leg semi-final tie with rivals, Real Madrid last Wednesday, Goal reported.

On April 10, La Blaugrana fans were at it again, this time during a La Liga tie against Girona which ended in a stalemate.

What now stands in the way of Messi's return is Barcelona's financial state and whether or not they can make enough room on their wage bill to abide by La Liga's Financial Fair Play rules.

Messi honoured by his country

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Argentina's training centre would be named after Messi after his success at the World Cup last year.

The South American country's FA president made the announcement and the veteran reacted to this individual honour on social media.

Messi played a pivotal role in La Albiceleste's triumph in Qatar, receiving the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player with seven goals.
