  • Chelsea and Liverpool played to a sixth straight draw on Tuesday night
  • The Blues had two goals from Reece James and Kai Havertz disallowed
  • Frank Lampard made his first appearance since leaving the club in 2021

Chelsea and Liverpool played to a draw for the sixth consecutive time in what was far more entertaining than the first leg, which was an extremely boring game.

Bruno Saltor led the team for the first time since the sacking of former boss, Graham Potter and the team was plagued with similar problems including the inability to finish chances.

It is unclear whether Saltor will be in charge for the weekend game against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium as the search for a new manager intensifies.

Fans react to Lampard's attendance

Lampard was beloved at Stamford Bridge during his playing days. He finished his career at the club being the all-time top scorer with 211 goals, but his managerial stint did not end well.

However, fans were happy to see their legend, with many insinuating he could return to the post he left in 2021.

The Sun UK exclusively reports that the club are considering hiring Lampard as a caretaker manager until the end of the season, to allow for more time in their managerial search.

Why Havertz's goal was disallowed

Kai Havertz was one of Lampard's signings. He had a goal disallowed against Liverpool due to a contentious rule, Sports Brief has also reported.

The Blues forward received a pass from the returning N'Golo Kante, before chipping the ball over the head of the Reds goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.

However, despite the ball finding the back of the net, Havertz's goal was ultimately disallowed after the referee consulted with the VAR official.
