  • Leicester City fans appear to have given up after Dean Smith’s appointment as the club’s new manager
  • The Foxes confirmed the appointment on Monday, April 10, and Smith will take charge of the club until the end of the season
  • Smith previously worked as Aston Villa manager before he was sacked in 2021

Fans all said the same thing after Leicester City confirmed the appointment of Dean Smith as their manager until the end of the season.

Smith, who left Norwich City earlier in the season, takes charge of a Leicester City side in genuine danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

The 2016 Premier League champions sit 19th on the log, and after defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, they sit two points adrift of safety with 8 games left.

Since the sacking of Brendan Rodgers, Leicester have lost both their matches against Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Smith made his first remarks as the new manager, where he said the first order of business was to instill confidence back in the team.

“The challenge in front of us is clear, but it’s one myself and my coaching team have experienced before and, with the quality in this squad and the number of games remaining, it’s very much achievable.” He said as quoted on BBC.

Fans doubt Smith

However, on social media, fans did not receive Smith’s appointment very positively.

For some fans, they felt Smith was a wildcard, especially with his previous reputation of failing to keep Norwich City in the Premier League when they were in a similar predicament a couple of months back.

His first game is a tricky fixture against Manchester City at the Etihad, and Smith will work with Craig Shakespeare as his assistant.

Shakespeare formed part of Claudio Ranieri's backroom staff when Leicester famously won the Premier League in 2015/16.

Ryan Reynolds thrilled with Wrexham win

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Ryan Reynold’s delight after Wrexham came from behind to claim a crucial victory over promotion rivals Notts County.

It was a brilliant game of football, with Ben Foster stealing the show thanks to his heroics late on, with Wrexham substitutes sprinting full pelt to hail the veteran shot-stopper.

The win sees Wrexham significantly boost their promotion chances as they are in first place with a massive 100 points, three ahead of their rivals Notts County with a game in hand.
