In January, Ronwen Williams swept passed an amazing record between the poles for six-peat champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
He became the first goalkeeper in the club's history to record eight or more consecutive clean sheets. He, however, missed out on the nine-match Premier Soccer League record set by Wayne Roberts (for Bidvest Wits) in the 2003-04 season.
In 2009-10, Moeneeb Josephs broke the league record for the most clean sheets with 17 while minding the net for Orlando Pirates. With Sundowns drawing 0-0 with Swallows FC on Sunday during their coronation tour, Williams is now up to 16 blanks of the opposition.

Standing in the way of Williams equalling and then breaking Joseph's record are Golden Arrows (12 April), Richards Bay (18 April), AmaZulu (03 May), Marumo Gallants (13 May) and Maritzburg United on the 20th of May.

Last week, Sports Brief reported how the Brazilians of South Africa had shattered records on their way to winning the league for a sixth consecutive time.
It was very clear from the start that Sundowns was going to win their 13th DStv Premiership title. What everyone was more interested in was how early the Brazilians would seal their sixth consecutive win.
They have now broken two unique records in the process of dominating South African football. No team had ever won the DStv Premiership in April before, nor had a team also sealed the title with seven matches to go in a league campaign until Sundowns did so.

Despite this, many of Mokwena's doubters cited his supposed failures at Orlando Pirates and Chippa United - with far fewer resources than the Brazilians - as 'proof' that his success at Chloorkop is artificial.
