Nigerian international Ademola Lookman takes his league goals to 13 this season, smashing Atalanta’s long-standing record.
The 25-year-old winger hit the back of the net as Atalanta defeated Cremonese 3-1 at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Saturday evening.
Lookman ended his seven-match goals drought during the encounter as he scored his side’s third goal of the game.
The Super Eagles star came on as a substitute in the 46th minute for Luis Muriel and finally found the net for the first time since January, Punch reports.

He has now taken his tally this season to 13 goals in 27 league appearances.
Stats platform Opta released a statement that the Nigerian international becomes the first Atalanta player to score 13 goals in his first Serie A season since Poul Rasmussen in 1952/1953.
“With Saturday’s goal against Cremonese, Ademola Lookman became the rookie to have scored the most in this league.
“The Nigerian striker has in fact reached 13 goals, detaching Kvaratskhelia of Napoli, and moving to third place overall in the scorers chart.
“The last Atalanta player to score at least 13 goals at this point of the season on his debut in Serie A was Poul Rasmussen in 1952/1953.”
Lookman relishes playing for Nigeria
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman has finally cleared the air over his decision to choose the Super Eagles of Nigeria over England, claiming he has no regret playing for the West African nation.

FootballThe Atalanta forward was born in London to Nigerian parents and was eligible to play for the Three Lions but decided instead to represent the three-time African champions.
Despite playing for England at a youth level, Lookman snubbed the Europeans for international duties and joined the Super Eagles.
Milan monitoring Lookman’s situation
Sports Brief earlier reported that Italian giants AC Milan have identified Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman as a possible replacement for Rafael Leao.
Only last summer did the 23-year-old winger arrive at Atalanta from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, but he could be on his way to the San Siro.
Milan will move for the forward, should Leao depart the San Siro amid interest from Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester City.
