Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan feels vindicated after new Ghana midfielder Abdul Majeed Ashimeru's cameo display against Angola.

The Anderlecht star made a huge impact in the 18 minutes that he played as the Black Stars shared the spoils with the Palancas Negras in the AFCON qualifier on Monday.

Gyan, earlier protested after the midfielder was dropped for the World Cup in Qatar last year.

Ashimeru proved Gyan right, after playing a key role in Ghana's leveller at the August 11th Stadium in Luanda. He also provided a key pass to Joseph Paintsil, but brave defending from Carneiro prevented the Genk forward from scoring.

Gyan in a cheeky tweet posted: "who is this guy?"

He later added an emoji of zipped lips, suggesting he was always right about the Anderlecht star.

Angola took an early second half lead after Reading forward Lucas Joao scored from the spot.

The Black Stars equalized following a brilliant piece of play which involved second half substitutes Ashimeru, Joseph Painstil and Osman Bukari.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Osman Bukari needed only sixty seconds to make an impact after scoring immediately following his introduction in the game against Angola.

The Black Stars conceded early in the second half after Reading striker Lucas Joao scored from the penalty spot.

The hosts started the game brightly with midfielder Fredy testing Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi from long range after just eight minutes.

Gyan reacts to Ashimeru's omission

Legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has weighed in on Ghana's 27-man squad released earlier today.

After several weeks of secrecy surrounding the announcement of the Black Stars squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, coach Otto Addo belatedly released his squad on Tuesday morning.

Coach Addo's squad features four debutants as well as notable inclusions such as Partey and Amartey. However, Anderlecht attacker Majeed Ashimeru was the conspicuous absentee on the list.
