La Liga president Javier Tebas has warned Barcelona that the league body will not bend its rules to accommodate the Catalan club re-signing Lionel Messi next season.
Messi has been linked with a return to Camp Nou when his current contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season despite the financial crisis rocking Barcelona.
Tebas insists if Barcelona are to sign Messi, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner must have to reduce his salary drastically in order for the Catalan club to be able to afford him.

The La Liga chief also revealed Barcelona must also offload many players to raise funds as they currently do not have the financial power to afford a deal for Messi.
Messi, who is now at PSG, left Barcelona in 2021 after the club was unable to renew his contract due to a slew of financial issues.

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted club legend Lionel Messi is always welcome to return to the club amid speculation about a summer move, Goal reports.
Laporta described Messi as the best player in Barcelona’s history while revealing how important it is for the club to maintain a good relationship with the 2022 World Cup winner.
