Richards Bay FC captain Siphamandla Mtolo has been laid to rest.
He was buried in his hometown of Shakaskraal in the Ilembe District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. 'Spepe', as he was fondly known, collapsed during a practice last week, before dying on the way to the hospital. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.
Speaking during Mtolo's funeral at the Nkobongo Sports Ground on Sunday, teammate Ntsikelelo Nyauza said:
“He was destined for greatness. He had a heart of a lion.”

Sad Bay goalkeeper Malcolm Jacobs said:
“You’ll forever be in our hearts.”
Chairman of the club Sifiso Biyela added:
“I lost a soldier, he was the heartbeat, an unsung hero, someone who broke the play for us.”
The team's next match will be on Sunday, 19 March when they will travel to Mpumalanga to take on TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership encounter.
