  • Manchester City beat Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park to reduce the gap between Arsenal to two points
  • Erling Haaland scored from the spot in the 78th minute after Ilkay Gundogan was fouled
  • The Norwegian had a perfect response to a journalist who questioned his technique

Manchester City scraped a narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park in Saturday's evening fixture. Palace defended solidly as a unit throughout the game, causing problems for Manchester City's attack.

Erling Haaland was the difference maker after scoring from the penalty spot in the 78th minute of the encounter—his 28th Premier League goal and 34th in all competitions.

The win propelled City to within a touching distance of league leaders Arsenal, who travel across London today for a derby against Fulham in a bid to restore their five points advantage.

Haaland's funny post-match response

The Norwegian used an uncharacteristic technique for his penalty by appearing to look up to the heavens before sending Vincente Guaita the wrong way.

When quizzed about it after the game in an interview with Sky Sports, he had a different answer about why his face was up and had a rather funny response to the journalist.

''No, I did not look at the heavens. I looked at the screens honestly, he said. I looked at the screens just to… I don't know, where else should I look? I don't have to look at the keeper. I just tried to breathe at that moment,'' he told Sky Sports.

As reported by talkSPORT, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has a great sense of humour at pressers. He once frustrated a journalist by giving one-word answers to four straight questions during his time at Salzburg.

Haaland does weird celebration against Palace

Sports Brief earlier reported that Haaland took his celebration a notch higher after his penalty helped Manchester City to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The goal machine usually does a fist pump at the end of games but did not do that after the Selhurst Park win; instead, he shook and hugged his teammates.

The funny part came when he shook and hugged Palace defender Joel Ward as if he were a teammate, much to the amusement of the fans, who claimed the defender was nice.
