According to The Mirror, a spectacular 90th-minute goal from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred's rather clincher in injury time helped United stun David Moyes' men 3-1 to book a spot in the quarter finals of the tournament.

The Red Devils found themselves trailing in the opening exchanges of the second half after Said Benrahma fired home to break the deadlock.

An own goal from West Ham star Nayef Aguerd with 13 minutes left on the clock and the late intervention from the South American duo earned the Old Trafford dwellers a hard-fought victory.

Ten Hag's pep talk

However, it has now emerged that Erik ten Hag was quite unhappy with the performance of the team.

Harry Maguire disclosed that the Dutchman hit out at his charges at the break for the below par performance.

"He went fairly strong to be honest, he knew we had to up it. We knew it or we'd lose the game," the 29-year-old defender told MUTV post-match.
"I know you have to play to the whistle and I'm sure we'll get a telling-off from the manager, but the last 30 minutes we found something," he added.

Maguire termed a hero

At the same time, Man United defender, Harry Maguire was hailed as a hero for his actions despite only playing for two minutes in the Carabao Cup final.

After the match, the embattled defender appeared to snub the club's co-chairman, Avram Glazer, who made a rare appearance to watch the Red Devils in action.

Sports Brief has reported the last time Glazer was present for a club game was back in August 2022, when Man United lost 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion.
