  • Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table and are favourites to win the title
  • Manchester City are their closest rival and could be the Gunners' biggest obstacle
  • Manchester United could also lay a claim to the title if they keep up their form

The Premier League season is about two-thirds in, with clubs having played between 23 to 25 games as the title race reaches a crucial time of the campaign.

Teams that have topped the table at Christmas on most occasions go on to win the title.

For league leaders in February, it is almost a safe bet to say they are champions-elect.

How do these three teams' schedules look in March and what are their chances of coming out of it unscathed?

Arsenal

The Gunners have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions and are only in the running for the Premier League and UEFA Europa League where they have been drawn against Sporting CP.

The league leaders have five games in a busy March, starting with a home game against Bournemouth, then an away trip to Craven Cottage to play Fulham between the two legs against Sporting, before ending it with another London derby against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 in the first leg, won 2-1 against Fulham and beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on the opening day of the league. The three games should have likely outcomes, while the tie against Sporting CP will provide a different challenge.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has led Manchester City to four of the last five Premier League titles, two of which have been decided on the final day. He is no stranger to fighting to the end.

City face Newcastle and Crystal Palace in the league in March, as well as RB Leipzig in the second leg of the Champions League and an unknown opponent in the FA Cup quarter-final.

City came back from behind to draw Newcastle 3-3 in the first leg while also coming behind to beat Palace 4-2. Both would not be easy fixtures but they are expected to beat RB Leipzig and progress in the Champions League.

Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has transformed Manchester United and on Sunday, ended their six-year trophy drought after beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley, as reported by ESPN.

The Red Devils overcame Barcelona to qualify for the Europa League round of 16 where they'll play another Spanish opposition in Real Betis over two legs in March, also being favourites to progress.

Their domestic fixtures include an away trip to Liverpool who they beat 3-1 at Old Trafford and a home tie against Southampton who they narrowly beat 1-0 in the first legs. The Red Devils are on course to win all four games in March.

Supercomputer predicts Arsenal's victory

Sports Brief earlier reported on a supercomputer predicting Arsenal would win the EPL title come May with 85 points.

It also predicted Man City to finish second while Man United would end third in ten Hag's first season in England.

It also predicted Liverpool would narrowly make the Europa League while Chelsea are expected to finish a lowly 10th.
