  • Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit wants his ex-employers to sign the Nigerian
  • Petit believes Osimhen can be a panacea to the Blues' current problems in front of the goals

Former France international, Emmanuel Petit has urged those in charge of Chelsea to do their utmost best to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen in the summer.

Osimhen, who is currently on the books of Napoli, has been in wonderful form this season in the Serie A, registering 19 league goals and appearing determined to net even more.

His performances have caught the attention of many clubs in Europe, who are now planning offers to tempt the Naples outfit to part ways with their star at the end of the season.

According to the report by Complete Sports, Petit said Osimhen's quality consistently reminded him of former Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba.

'I would go for Osimhen'

Petit stated that if he was in charge of affairs at Stamford Bridge, he would opt for the Nigerian over the likes of Marcus Thuram.

“You know there is a striker’s curse at Chelsea but someday this will be broken and he could do it. I have followed Osimhen since he played for Lille and he was already a very good striker.''

Osimhen could earn himself €260,000

Sports Brief also reported on Osimhen possibly earning €260,000, which is around N120 million, if he scores 30 goals this season for Napoli.

The Super Eagles star is the shining light so far this season in the Serie A and has won the hearts of the club faithful with 19 league goals.

Osimhen is also widely tipped to help his club win the Serie A title and claim the league's Golden Boot. Nigerians have also been impressed with him and are hoping he translates these performances to the national team.
