A heated training ground exchange took place at Paris Saint-Germain training ground on Saturday between Lionel Messi and his teammate Vitinha.

The French giants were being put through their paces ahead of the Le Classique against Olympique Marseille at the Stade Valedrome on Sunday evening.

And Messi and Vitinha had to be restrained during training after the Portugal international made a strong tackle on the Argentina magician.

According to French Publication L'Equipe, noted by Marca, teammates and coaching staff stepped in to calm the situation down after Vitinha produced a hefty challenge on Messi.

"The Argentinian star barely put up with Vitinha's interference in training and didn't hold anything back afterwards, until a clash between the pair ensued," L'Equipe said of the argument between the players.

No punches were thrown and the pair are understood to have settled their differences on the pitch but the incident shows yet another sign of the desperation and bad atmosphere in Christophe Galtier's squad.

Galitier is understood to be relaxed about the situation, content that both players left the pitch with no lasting animosity.

Messi to win FIFA the Best award

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi is the front-runner to win FIFA The Best award for 2022, according to reports.

The 35-year-old steered La Albiceste to defeat France in the World Cup final via penalties, scoring two goals in regular time.

The Argentine magician contributed with seven goals and three assists, starring in the tournament as he scooped the Golden Boot award.

Messi-Mbappe bromance

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe's deadly combo proved pivotal in guiding Paris Saint-Germain past Lille on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentine magician scored a 95th-minute free-kick to give Paris Saint-Germain a 4-3 win over Lille in an extraordinary Ligue 1 game on Sunday.

Messi's late winner came after PSG had squandered a two-goal lead and fallen 3-2 behind, with Kylian Mbappe grabbing a late equaliser before the Argentine's stunning strike.
