  • Marcus Rashford is a major doubt for Man United ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Newcastle
  • The United attacker picked up an injury during their Europa League clash against Barcelona
  • Ten Hag is expected to rethink his team set-up as he eyes his first title with the Red Devils

Manchester United are likely to miss the services of Marcus Rashford when they take on Newcastle United on Sunday, February 26, at Wembley, in the Carabao Cup final.

The much-anticipated clash will present both sides with an opportunity to win their trophy for the 2022/23 campaign.

While Newcastle are hopeful of winning their first major domestic title in almost 68 years, United will be desperate to end their trophy drought spanning close to five years.

However, the Sunday clash leaves them in danger of missing the services of Marcus Rashford, who picked up an injury earlier in the week.

Marcus Rashford's form

Rashford has been one of United's standout players this season, with the Englishman boasting incredible form so far this term.

The Man United academy graduate has scored an eyewatering 24 goals across competitions, with his last strike coming against Leicester City in the Premier League last week.

The 25-year-old was part of the starting line up against Barcelona in midweek, but was forced off towards the end of the Europa League cracker.

The possible absence of Rashford from the team will force Erik ten Hag to rethink on his team set up as he eyes his first trophy with the Premier League side.

Predicted Man United line up vs Newcastle

According to The Sun, Ten Hag will almost certainly start without Wout Weghorst regardless of the availability of Rashford.

In Rashford's absence, Jadon Sancho could slot in for him on the left flank, while Bruno Fernandes is also an option.

Such a scenario would leave Antony, who was the man of the moment against Barcelona on Thursday night battling it out with Alejandro Garnacho for the right side.

That would see Ten Hag potentially settle for a 4-3-3 formation, with Lisandro Martinez partnering Raphael Varane at the heart of defence.

David de Gea would obviously start in goal, with the inform Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka playing on either side of the back line.

Casemiro is expected to command the middle of the park alongside Fred and Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer.

Newcastle fans unhappy with former player

Sports Brief earlier reported that Newcastle fans are unhappy with former player Nile Ranger for selling inflated tickets to the club's first cup final since 1999.

Ranger, who played for the club between 2009 and 2013, was jailed for online banking fraud in 2017 and advertised tickets to the event between £1,150 to £2,150.

The maximum price for the tickets is originally £100, and while many do not care about the price, his past makes it hard to trust him to deliver even if they pay.
