This is the predicament facing one Alan Carling, a staunch Newcastle United fan. Like any other Magpies fan out there, he was ready and raring to support Eddie Howe's charges in person on Sunday.

One would have to rack their brains for the last time Newcastle were in a major final. For Carling, this presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity though judging by his team's recent forays; they may become giants once again.

Double heartbreak for ticket holder

However, Carling suffered heartbreak after his dog, Rudy ate his Carabao Cup final ticket while he was away.

To make matters worse, he was at St. James Park where he watched his side record their first home defeat of the season and to top it off, the reliable Nick Pope was red-carded and will thus miss the final.

February 18 has to be one of the hardest days of Carling's life.

Taking to Facebook, Carling wrote:

"This is my dog Rudy. Rudy is a little [expletive] of a pup and thinks letters through the post are an invasion of his home. After coming back from watching Newcastle lose at home for the first time this season against Liverpool, conceding two goals and having the keeper sent off in the first half, Rudy thought he would give me a laugh by eating the Wembley tickets that were posted whilst I was out. Dog for sale, £5," he said as quoted by Sports Bible.

Put the word out, in case anyone needs a dog and won't mind his/her tickets being destroyed: Carling would happily allow Rudy to be a new member of your family.
